Neonatal Hypocalcemia and Related Conditions

      Electrolyte abnormalities in the neonate, such as hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, hypomagnesemia, and alkalosis, can predispose to neuromuscular irritability. The pathophysiology of these disorders and techniques for measuring serum calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus are discussed.
