Indications and cytomorphologic features of fine-needle aspiration of the ovary are reviewed in this article. Distinction between benign and malignant neoplasms as well as non-neoplastic lesions are also discussed.

This article reviews the current status of FNA cytology of ovarian lesions, including the indications and description of the technique; the cytomorphologic diagnostic criteria, pitfalls, and the accuracy of FNA cytology in the detection and classification of ovarian tumors will also be emphasized.
