Urticaria, Angioedema, and Autoimmunity

      Urticaria and angiodema are common swelling disorders. Recent studies provide compelling evidence that chronic idiopathic urticaria and acquired Cl inhibitor deficiency are autoantibody-mediated autoimmune diseases. The role of autoantibodies in these diseases is reveiwed, as well as additional associations between swelling disorders and autoimmunity.
