An Overview and Ranking of Biochemical Markers of Cardiac Disease

Strengths and Limitations
This paper is only available as a PDF. To read, Please Download here.
Much of the published evidence regarding the use of biochemical markers in the acute coronary syndromes is contradictory, misleading, incomplete, and unsatisfactory. There are several problems relating to analyzer calibration, reference ranges, decision thresholds, diagnostic groupings, practice guidelines, and diagnostic gold standards. In addition, much more rigor needs to be applied to test assessments, test use, and economic and decision analysis.
