Nipple discharge is commonly associated with benign breast lesions; however, it is
often associated with a great source of anxiety and frustration for women. Approximately
11% of cases that have nipple discharge are caused by malignancy. This incidence increases
if the discharge is associated with an underlying mass or abnormality seen in breast
imaging [

]. It is critically important to determine if the discharge is a benign process or
if it is of a pathologic nature. Physiologic discharge is often presented as white
or green, bilateral, nonspontaneous secretions from multiple ducts. Physiologic discharge
may be the result of drugs such as oral contraceptives and antihypertensives, hypothyroidism,
or a pituitary adenoma. Puberty, galactorrhea-induced drugs, breast nipple stimulation,
and elevated levels of prolactin are causes of abnormal physiologic nipple discharge
